Here are Blessings Ranch, we allow customers to purchase individual cuts of beef for specific dishes or needs.
We also allow customers to buy ⅛, ¼, ½, or a whole cow, already butchered and ready to go, in bulk.
Which type of purchase is right for you? Here are a few factors to consider when deciding how best to do business with our farm.
#1) Goals
Are you trying grass-fed, farm-raised beef for the first time? Want to make sure you like the taste or feel good about the experience of purchasing it? Visiting our farm out of curiosity, or for a bit of fun?
Then buying a few specific cuts of meat might make sense. In addition, it might make sense to purchase beef a la carte if you have a party or an event you’re planning for: i.e., you want something special.
If you’re trying to get cost-effective, farm-raised, healthy beef to feed your family, a bulk purchase may make more sense. It’s more expensive to buy the cuts a la carte, and less convenient. If you know your family consumes beef every week, and you love what grass-fed beef has to offer, then you might want to stock up.
#2) Habits
How often do you eat beef?
If you only eat beef once a week, then a la carte purchases make plenty of sense. Buy for your special beef meal, buy exactly what you want, and go home and cook. You could easily pick up a month’s worth of beef with one purchase.
If you and your family eat beef nearly every single night, then a bulk beef purchase tends to make way more sense, especially if you understand all the benefits grass fed beef has to offer.
In addition, you do have to plan ahead for bulk beef. You must put down a deposit and order in advance. You can take home a la carte beef any time the cuts you want are in stock.
#3) Budget
Bulk beef purchases require a little more of an upfront cost than a la carte purchases, but costs less money over the spread of months.
Only you know what your cash flow and your needs look like. For some, a la carte purchases are the only purchases that are realistic.
However, there are options to get creative! For example, some of our customers go in with friends or neighbors to share a bulk beef purchase.
#4) Freezer Space
¼ of a cow requires up to eight cubic feet of dedicated freezer space. If you don’t have enough freezer space, a la carte makes sense! People living in smaller homes or apartments should still get to enjoy grass fed beef.
If you have an entire garage freezer just waiting to be filled, bulk beef is a great choice!
